Error - failed to record

user-100

First time using get_iPlayer, I'm running Vista. I got this error message when specifying flashhigh mode:

Warning: Required rtmpdump does not exist - cannot download Flash audio/video.
Info: skipping flashhigh1 mode
Error: Failed to record

So I tried specifying every single mode in turn, and got errors each time. The flashxxx modes gave the above error message. The rtspxxx modes gave the following error message:

Info: Recording Low Quality H.264 stream
'cvlc' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
Info: Command exit code 1 (raw code = 256)
Info: skipping rtspstd1 mode
Error: Failed to record

Finally specifying subtitles mode records the .srt file containing the text of the subtitles, but doesn't download anything else, so I still don't have a playable video file.
So what else does get_iplayer need to be able to record? And are these problems at all related to the BBC's recent revamp (27th Sep) of their iplayer website? Can anyone confirm that get_iplayer is still compatible with downloading the files? (they might be in a new format, I really don't know) Any help would be much appreciated. Jen

Ok, after a bit of investigating I realized the rtmpdump was something I hadn't installed because I unchecked the box for it, and a clean reinstall solved the problem. My videos can record and play now. (And the quality is great. Thanks get_iplayer!)

A bit of esoterica to reward your efforts: If you get flashXXX mode failures for any reason in the future, don't bother with the rtspXXX modes. That's a vestigial appendage of get_iplayer that no longer works.

I'm having this same proplem but only for TV Programmes. I am new to this so if anyone can help I'd be greatful I have it updated to the latest version

You appear to be outside the UK, so iPlayer TV is not available to you.

Yea I was meant to say that but it worked for me before. Plus I still can download radio? Being Honest I dont use it everyday but it very handy.

I'm a fan of Paul O'Grady so all I need it for is downloading the show he's a guest on or hes shows that does air on the BBC?
Anyways if anyone has any ideas let me know, I was reading another forum about hiding a ip address or something about a proxy how does that work?

Lower-quality radio streams are available to users outside the UK, though some programmes may be missing if the BBC doesn't have the rights to make them available via iPlayer.

We can't advise you on access from outside the UK. Google is your friend here.
