There appears to be an issue with some programs now where a segment of the program is missing, when the file downloads the program skips and the subtitles go out of sync, I'm not sure why this is happening as I'm watching the program on BBC iPlayer at the moment, could it be a new DRM?

Yes this is a current issue affecting HLS downloads , also documented in the Linux section of this forum (the segmented nature of this forum doesn't help these sorts of problems), it seems to be a problem at the BBC end of things.
For now using flash, eg --tvmode=flashhd will produce fault free downloads , although we don't know how long this will be available. For me, HLSHD downloads are between 30 and 100 Mbps - be warned that FlashHd is much slower, four times slower for me! :-(
The new hvf mode is another way around the problem although I would recommend reading around the subject.
I'm download using a batch file which I've amended to pipe results into a text error file - I then examine the output and where there are missing segments I repeat the download using flash.

I had to learn how to use the get_iplayer app rather than the web player app in order to follow your instructions, but it now means I can go back and redownload the programs that had faults when recording!
I'm not sure how I would create a batch file similar to the one you have set up but it sounds like a logical way to pick up any errors.
I'm using 'tvmode=flashvhigh' for 832x468 (my normal setting).
D/L times seem normal to me.
When you do switch to using HLS and HVF, you may well find a big speed increase :)
A problem in downloading "Full Steam Ahead" Episode 4.
There are warnings of possible gaps in the prog. Where these happen sounds leads several seconds ahead of video.
I have oberved this on 2 progs recently.
For "Full Steam Ahead" Episode 4, I have downloaded a second time with same consequence.

I have just downloaded and installed V 2.95.2 for Windows and still getting "Segment[s] not found" on Full steam ahead Episode 4.
Any help would be much appreciated.

The reason that didn't work before is because you made an error in the original command. You missed an 'h' in flash

Just to report, I think I've found two programmes which have HLS but no flashhd. The latest two episodes of Wild both fail under flashhd (no streams found), but work (with segments missing) under HLS.

Not all programmes are available in HD. That is normal and has nothing to do with the recent problems.
Yup you're right - flashvhigh1 worked.
So used to everything being available in HD these days...
Has the BBC fixed this?
I started recording all the Olympics Table Tennis episodes a week or so back and at least 50% or so had the 'Segment not found' issue. I only used to get it with earlier rounds, the finals stages (more recent) did not suffer.
However, I have not had one 'Segment not found' issue in the last two or three days' worth of recordings even the early rounds. I used to get several a day previously.
Coincidence or it's been fixed?
Programmes from 26 Aug onwards appear to be fixed, but YMMV. Old programmes have not been repaired. The issue is generally moot with the latest get_iplayer, anyway. Thread closed.
