Can only install v2.66

user-1110

Sorry not used to command line, and only used the Windows installer until now.

Tried using the Ubuntu Software Centre first, then removed install before trying manual install.

Followed wiki/ubuntu/ but still not getting the current version.

Please see output below, any suggestions welcome. Thank you and Merry Christmas

You didn't follow the wiki exactly. You missed step 2.

Give it a read again and make sure you excute step 2 before attempting to install.

Huge thank you for the instant reply. My mistake for not showing that I had done step 2 previously. Here is the full version:

What is the output of lsb_release -a please?

The get_iplayer PPA only supports Ubuntu versions that are still supported by the vendor, Canonical.  Your version - Ubuntu 10.04 - has reached end-of-life and is no longer supported. If you don't plan to upgrade Ubuntu, try the manual installation instructions in the wiki. However, there is no guarantee that everything will still work.

user-1110

Thank you for encouraging me to upgrade Ubuntu. I hadn't released that EasyPeasy 1.6 was not going to push v2.0, I had to actively find it to install. So now I have Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, and get_iplayer 2.94-ppa23.

The only problem that I had to solve subsequently was - Unknown encoder ‘libmp3lame’

Fortunately fixed with - sudo apt-get install libavcodec-extra-53

Thank you for your help and support - Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
