Until Tuesday I had no problem downloading HD quality recordings from get_iplayer.   I removed get_iplayer, reinstalled, ensured I did everything as per the normal install and then changed the modes to best and yet the best I get is high quality SD.

I'm using Win 7 SP1.

The solution at that link works for some people, but some have not been able to use hlshigh, etc., since May, and that will not work for them.

Suffice to say, correct me if I'm wrong, that only the fcod.llnwd.net source with 400kbs streams will now work without geocode restrictions.  Using avconv, for example, using the fix will give you "Input/Output Error".  Trying to use one of the other sources with rmtpdump will give you "NetStream.Failed".

I'll not discuss alternatives as you like that off limits, but, suffice to say that there will be many complaining that they cannot download as of September 6, even with the fix, even though your fix is valid.  And that's probably 80% of the hits this site is getting.
