I installed the  program and searched for matches to "Who do you think you are?".  Program found 3, with index numbers 1244, 1245 and 1246.


 I entered get_iplayer 1246.  After a delay, program came back with lengthy error message saying. among other things:
"No specified modes <> available for this programme with version 'original'
It then tried using other modes and came back saying "Failed to record".

Can anyone suggest what is wrong?  I am using the Windows version, using Vista.

What other modes did you try?

try adding --modes=best into your command.

I am on satellite internet and so have restricted download capacity. I need to record in SD. I tried --modes=flashstd. Got the same result - failed to record.

Please can you post the command you are using and the output for us to see? If you click "New Reply" there are some formatting options which will help you display it properly.

If you really just entered "get_iplayer 1246", no download would have been attempted.  Show the complete command. Also post the complete output as a .txt file attachment - don't make us guess.  The "No specified modes" message is insufficient. With only that message to work from, the likely explanation is that you are attempting to access iPlayer from outside the UK, but there is no way for us to know that.
