I've always had to uninstal and reinstal get_iplayer to find any more radio shows. It finds them all the first time but just shows the same search result after that?

It sounds like the radio cache is not being refreshed very often. By default it should refresh every 4 hours unless you set it to refresh more or less often.

How often are you uninstalling/reinstalling?

Instead of uninstalling/reinstalling you can run --refresh with your command.
