Does 2.92 fix this recent issue?

user-892

I have been using get-iplayer for several years now, but it has stopped working in he last few weeks. I see that 2.92 is out but is not yet available on the CrunchBang repositories. When I tried to install it manually I also got errors. Her's an example of the commands I give what I get back:
Code:
alistair@Netbook:/bin$ get_iplayer --get --type=radio --pid=b0076g2s
get_iplayer v2.90, Copyright (C) 2008-2010 Phil Lewis

Do I just need to wait for the repository to be updated or does this indicate something more? I couldn't see anything in the release notes that would indicate that it contains a fix for this. Btw,I am running this from within the UK.

Many thanks for any suggestions,

I'm pretty sure and update should solve that issue. You're 2 releases behind now according to that output and a lot has changed thanks to BBC changes.

Crunchbang is 'dead' (though it may be coming back) but the point is it's probably not going to be updated much going forward. I'm not exactly sure of the details on how Crunchbag follows Debian Stable or if it's getting updated to Jessie or even who maintains the get_iplayer package on Debian so you're probably best doing the manual update.

Did you try that and received errors? What were those errors?

Thanks for the advice, I didn't realise CrunchBang was dead! I will have to look for another netbook-friendly distro.

I did try the manual update but didn't get far. Trying again... ok, I must have skipped a step before, I now have 2.92. Thanks for the advice! Sadly though, it doesn't seem to work quite the same. The 'pids' it is giving me are shorter and when I try to get them, they are not recognised:

Code:
alistair@Netbook:~$
alistair@Netbook:~$
alistair@Netbook:~$ get-iplayer --type radio --channel "BBC Radio 4" | grep Museum

I will have a bit more of a play and see if I can figure it out. Many thanks for your help so far.

Never mind guys, I am RTFM and looks like what I am treating as a PID is actually an index number. It's downloading a program by name at the moment and I will play some more with it.

Again, huge thanks.
