I'm using get_iplayer as a Pvr (using the pvr mode) on an ubuntu server and 95% of the time it works fine and dandy. Once in a blue it downloads the audiodescribed version from iPlayer. I've no idea why it is doing it and is there a place where I can make get_iplayer ignore all audiodescribed versions?

Use
If you're actually getting audiodescribed versions when default versions are available, use for those programmes. This a workaround until next release. The issue is explained here:
