I was invited at http://www.christopherdowning.co.uk/2012...-tutorial/ to post my problems here.

I re-installed get_iplayer last night. Latest version 2.83 and 2.0.6 vlcplayer but still I get this:
It goes through all the options and then finishes with those lines. It seems the problem is the flvstreamer:
Can anyone help, please? Thanks.

Which version of rtmpdump or flvstreamer are you using? The âWARNING: rtmpdump/flvstreamer 1.8 or later is required â please upgradeâ error seems to suggest you have an old version.

The files which came with get_iplayer were the latest versions already but I downloaded the 2.4 version anyway. Before installing last night I removed the old version rmtp stuff when I got the option. I also added the latest flvstreamer to the RTMPDump directory. My guess was this is being used when I run get_iplayer:
Every time I run one of the exes it screams for a hostname. Any ideas of what I should remove or add greatly welcome. Thanks.

Iâm not that familiar with get_iplayer on Windows, so Iâm not sure I can be much help. You donât need both flvstreamer and rtmpdump though, they do the same job; you might as well delete flvstreamer because itâs basically just an old version of rtmpdump. Where did you download the Windows get_iplayer installer from?

I got the files from http://www.infradead.org/get_iplayer_win...latest.exe if I remember correctly.
I have removed flvstreamer â it makes no difference. So I have narrowed it down to the same issue I had from the start.
I checked â there is not rtmpdump apart from this version, which is clearly newer than 1.8 â¦
Any ideas? Thanks.

When you run get_iplayer try using the --rtmpdump option, followed by the path to RTMPDump. I think it might be trying to use an older version, which is why you get the â1.8 or later is required â please upgradeâ error.

Thanks for your patience.
I removed everything from the RTMPDump directory, downloaded this:
http://rtmpdump.mplayerhq.hu/download/rt...indows.zip
and dropped the files into said directory. I then pointed get_iplayer to the directory via ârtmpdump as suggested and still get the original error (WARNING: rtmpdump/flvstreamer 1.8 or later is required â please upgrade).
I do not get this at all.

Hello Andrew,
Iâm the site admin for squarepenguin.co.uk, a website and support forum dedicated to get_iplayer.
Would you mind popping over to the forums and posting there? Youâll be able to post screenshots and logs after you register and user-2 (get_iplayers maintainer) will see your post and offer expert advice.
If you do pop over to the forum, please try to provide the following info:
1) The EXACT re-installation procedure you undertook
2) The EXACT commands you are issuing to get_iplayer
3) Report the finding of the RTMP port checker at this link:
http://www.therealtimeweb.com/index.cfm/...N=69907408
Weâll probably ask you more questions as things get narrowed down but that should get us started.
---
1) I downloaded the latest version of VLC media player, installed it (it removed the old version), then installed the latest get_iplayer (it removed the old version).
2) get_iplayer --get 595 --output d:/ --tvmode=flashhd, flashvhigh
3) Attached are the port test results.
Many thanks in advance,
Andrew
