Is it possible to find/sort programmes by release date?

For example, find a show recorded in the year 1981.

Sorting is available on the PVR.

I can't find a suitable one.

I thought you meant sort by time released to get_iplayer.

You would need access to all the metadata to locate a particular year a show was recorded.

Sort by "expires" - this is a good approxmation because most programs expire 28 days after release.
(PS this is not the same as first release)
