I've downloaded the latest version but when I try to install I get the following error message.

"The application has failed to start because it's side by side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail"

Any idea what the problem is & how I can get round it?

That is a Windows problem unrelated to get_iplayer or its installer. Google is your friend. Thread closed.
