Cannot download programmes with PIDs beginning with 'm' using obsolete get_iplayer
#1
Since July 21, there has been a change in the URL of Radio 3 programmes:

Before, the URL ended with the PID : string of 8 characters, beginning with "b0"
e.g. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0bfxw5z

Since then, the last segment of the URL always begins with "m0"
e.g. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m00006p1

And the result is that I cannot download anymore.
I tried using the command lines :
1)   get_iplayer --pid=m00006p1 --type=radio
2)   get_iplayer http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m00006p1
and all failed.
I also tried with other programmes whose identifier begins with "m0", and none of them worked.

Are you running the latest get_iplayer?

I have been successfully downloading the Proms and today's two downloads are m0 pids.

get_iplayer --pid=m00006p1
works fine here (copied from a somewhat truncated screen width):

C:\Program Files\get_iplayer>get_iplayer --pid=m00006p1

Hi

I have been using the following successfully to d/l radio

get_iplayer --pid XXXXXXX --modes=hafhigh

This was when the page urls were like TV programmes, for example - https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p0...-nice-face

But the urls on iplayer have changed to this - https://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/play/m0000bp7

I am getting this message: ERROR: Could not extract a valid PID from m0000bp7

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks in advance

Hi Everyone

I am trying to download the latest Sky at Night using get_iplayer but it comes up with the following error:

"Could not extract a valid PID from m0001jfq"

I have tried both the PID and URL method but neither works.

Does anyone know what the solution to this is?

According to iPlayer, there is currently 11 days left for this program.

Thank you very much.

Kind regards

Tim

I am currently running get_iplayer 3.01-windows.0.

I issue the following command:

get_iplayer --url https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m0...nstoppable --modes=best  --force --type=tv --subtitles file-prefix="<nameshort><-senum><-episodeshort>"

and the resonse from get_iplayer is:

ERROR: Could not extract a valid PID from https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m0...nstoppable

I have added the verbose attachment as requested.

Note that there are three episodes in this series and two of the episodes are giving me the same output error, this example being the most recent.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
I'm attempting to download various programs. If the PID starts with A b0 then everything is fine, however the BBC have now started using m000 as the prefix and now I cannot download anything that starts with that.

Any ideas?

Best wishes

Paul
