I'm curious how other people find the download speeds using get_iplayer.

Now I am not for one minute suggesting this is anything to do with get_iplayer at all, but for me on my Virgin Media 200 package downloads never get above 8Mbps (or 1MBps if you prefer). With this speed it takes an age to download say a 1 hour programme at the highest quality with 50FPS (a 2GB file).

I'm sure when I first got get_iplayer it was lightning quick. It's almost like VM are throttling iPlayer downloads so they are quick enough to stream in realtime and nothing more.

Anyone else got any thoughts?
