I've read that the BBC are broadcasting the Radio 3 Proms in Concert Sound.

I can't work out whether they are streaming in FLAC or compressing with AAC - but there's reference to needing specific browsers (Mozilla) with the right FLAC decoders in to be able to listen to the "iPlayer Concert Sound".

What does get_iplayer get when it downloads iPlayer programmes ?

It looks like the current downloads might be 320kbps encoded AAC files - are FLAC files available for download ?

If you don't want to listen through the mozilla browser then the stream can be heard using the nightly VLC build 3.?.? - the stream can give up to 1000kbps, when I tested it the intense sections of the broadcast were above 800kbps.
