Conversion error "non-existing SPS" (covered in FAQ list)

user-1862

Hi all

I've been using get_iplayer for some time, on Windows 10, generally without problems. Since installing the latest version (3.01), everything works fine but then at the very end, when the temporary file is being converted from the .ts to mp4 format in its final destination, I get the same or similar error message appearing in red. So, for example, with the command

get_iplayer --pid=b088yy5z

I get the error message

[h264 @ 0352c120] non-existing SPS 0 referenced in buffering period
[h264 @ 0352c120] SPS unavailable in decode_picture_timing
[h264 @ 0352c120] non-existing SPS 0 referenced in buffering period
[h264 @ 0352c120] SPS unavailable in decode_picture_timing

But with
get_iplayer --pid=b08tpkc4
I get the message:

[h264 @ 038ec140] non-existing SPS 0 referenced in buffering period
[h264 @ 038ec140] SPS unavailable in decode_picture_timing
[h264 @ 038ec140] non-existing SPS 0 referenced in buffering period
[h264 @ 038ec140] SPS unavailable in decode_picture_timing

What's odd is that the error doesn't seem to affect the recording or conversion, or at least as far as I can tell.  The only thing that's different is the address of the error. Judging by its content, it seems to be an error of audio conversion.

Has anyone else encountered this ? Is it a real problem, and can I ignore it ?

Thanks

Read FAQ list.

Dinky

Many thanks. And apologies that I didn't see this in the FAQ.

I'll rest easy - sounds like it's not a real or significant problem

Best regards

Just thought I'd let you know that I've had quite a few of these only recently but not before & I'm still using the unsupported Gip v2.97 as I've not upgraded yet & now, after damaging my laptop screen, so only the one diagonal half works, I'll be upgrading when I get a new laptop which could be a months time. Thanks for the info about it being in the FAQ's Dinky & I will read that bit this weekend.
