How do I remove v2.94 and where do I find v3.01 to install?

user-1108

I have up-graded my PC with new SSD 480GB 2 x 2TB HD.

Have done complete clean installs for Windows Pro 10 and Ubuntu 16.04

I Only use Ubuntu 16.04 LTS for get_iplayer.

Did have get_iplayer v3.01 running before my up-grade OK.

Have get_iplayer v2.94 installed (not working) but was trying to get get_iplayer v3.01

Q 1/ How do I delete get_iplayer v2.94.?

Q 2/ Where do I get a new install for get_iplayer v3.01 from?

Thanks for any advice.

Richard, I can't help with removing version 2.94 but here is the link to download the latest version:

Sorry, just realised that link was for Windows.

I think this link is the one you want:

...which for Ubuntu points you at https://launchpad.net/~jon-hedgerows/+ar...et-iplayer

apt update automatically removes old versions while installing new ones. It just works.

Thank you Jon for the info

I have downloaded get_iplayer-master and extracted files.

So what should I do now with these files, I do not understand how to run get_iplayer from these files.

Please advice me.

you can either follow the instructions on the wiki (for a manual installation), or follow the instructions on the wiki for a package installation, which I highly recommend for everyone, especially if you're struggling with the manual install.

For Ubuntu, go to

https://launchpad.net/~jon-hedgerows/+ar...et-iplayer

and follow the instructions under "Adding this PPA to your system".

I can't seem to attach any files why?

Save attach as .docx but said errors and not aloud ?
Also tried other formats - same errors?

On the landing page for the forums there's a section labelled "Forum Rules Read before posting". It says (amongst other things that you should also read BEFORE posting):

"Do NOT post large blobs of code/terminal output into a post. Save such text into a .txt document and upload it as an attachment to your post. The attach button is available under the post input box in the Preview Post screen."

You'll also find more help on using Ubuntu on the Ubuntu website - in particular you may find https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Repositories/Ubuntu helpful which explains in more detail how to add PPAs to Ubuntu.

Ubuntu 16.04 has just done an update - (I think the update mentioned ffmpeg) this update has just happened while I was posting an earlier post and get_iplayer seams to be working ! ! !
