Manual install of 3.00 hides PPA install of 3.01

user-743

Running on Ubuntu 14.04
Just noticed that my get-player reports as "get_iplayer v3.00, Copyright (C) 2008-2010 Phil Lewis". I have the jon-hedgerows ppa in my "other software sources".  sudo apt-get install get-iplayer tells me "get-iplayer is already the newest version"

Before I start pasting full extracts from command line output, is there something obvious I've missed, or somewhere in my filesystem I should be looking to see if the updated files have indeed been installed?

Thanks

best guess - and this is only a guess - is that you've manually installed a copy of get-iplayer somewhere else.

$ which get_iplayer

will tell you where get_iplayer is installed - the one from the ppa usually ends up in /usr/bin.

I did indeed - I manually loaded 3.00 when it was first released, but I thought I'd then seen your release come through in an update a few days later.

Off to modify $PATH ...

Thanks
