Hi, Noticed my get_iplayer wouldn't work so I checked for updates and updated and still no change. Absolutely no response from the BBC servers. I can connect and get an update on listings by typing get_iplayer but that's all I can do.
I'm using linux mint lmde 2 which is generally very good with get_iplayer so quite what is going on I'm at a loss to say.
I normally use get_iplayer --pid=******** --tvmode=**** --output "/home/andrew /etc etc.
Has anything changed so that pid access is no longer available?
I've tried --get with a number form the cache list, but no go either.
I'm completely mystified as to why it's not working.
Any ideas?

Hi, many thanks. I think this is what you want. Apologies if not!
I'm using Linux Mint LMDE 2 which is up to date. This may be the problem because everything was working until recently so I suspect that an update is what has changed my system and not what I thought might be the case that the BBC had altered theirs.
I was running 2.97 before and hoped that upgrading to 3.01 would cure the problem but this has had no noticeable effect.
All downloads appear to be affected, so I'll just provide one script as an example. BBC King Charles Episode 1
get_iplayer --pid=p04z0n7s --tvmode=good --output "/home/andrew/Public/TV/"

It appears to correctly identify the programme but will stay there all day and not actually download anything.
I hope this is enough info for you to diagnose, but let me know if more is required.
Thanks again. This is a great bit of software and much needed since the BBC have dropped linux from their platform support.

please note, that to confuse the issue, I inadvertently left the terminal open which I had used to illustrate the problem with downloading Kind Charless III and some while after came back to find that it had worked. So it may just take an age, but still work. If you can see a reason for the delay which I can correct, please let me know and I'll test it again to see just how long the wait was. I've no idea at present. Thanks
The printout below is the result from a download of Trust Me I'm a Vet. It took over 10 mins before it started and then it ran normally. I've tried to highlight the bit in the middle which was in read which may throw some light on what it happening. It's in bold type if that works.
If you have suggestions as to how to speed things up, please do. Otherwise I guess I shall just wait a little bit longer than normal.
Thanks
Andrew

You can see from the log that you're only able to download <3x realtime. You simply have poor upstream connectivity, or else you have been throttled somewhere. There is nothing get_iplayer can do about that. Thread closed - see forum rules.
