Dinky is, of course, correct. This time around just feels different, with political antipathy towards the BBC and iPlayer from outside, and BBC press releases relating to the imminent changes that read like they were written with get_iplayer users as a target audience.

Does the impending requirement to have a BBC account and sign in to iPlayer before you can watch content have any implications for get_iplayer?
