Cannot install Homebrew on El Capitan

user-1671

I also have El Capitan and cannot even install Homebrew.  Copied and pasted into terminal, as specified on the Homebrew page:  /usr/bin/ruby -e "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebr...er/install)" and all I got was "illegal variable name".

You'll have to take that up with Homebrew. We don't support it here. Alternatively, try a manual install.

Do you mean that when you type you password into the terminal that no character appear?

If that's the case then that's by design and not a problem. The terminal doesn't display password entry. Just type it in blind and hit enter and it should start doing it's thing.
