Hi there
I love the new coloured subtitles --thanks -- for those who want monochrome then follow the documentation.
For people using things like Amazon Fire TV you can sideload Kodi on to it - and from a NAS server running Windows or Linux simply play the media files downloaded with get_iplayer - no probs at all and within the kodi application on your Amazon Fire TV you can also change orientation. font, position, colour etc of subtitles.
Simply copy the downloaded content from get_iplayer -- usually in the /home directory to an accessible shared file on your server which is reachable with your fire TV stick and kodi will pick it up and play it.
To load Kodi on an amazon fire TV stick simply load the application on to an android phone and then use the following method to load to amazon TV stick.
Using the firestick means you can play the content on remote TV's at your convenience (or the radio programs on soundbars etc). Kodi plays every known codec in the universe and often works where VLC has problems and doesn't need a load of transcoding like PLEX MEDIA SERVER.
(On Linux servers you might need to make shared folders from your NAS available via SAMBA etc -- easy enough but if unsure just google SAMBA or the various Linux Forums).

Have fun and thanks again for a great application that's now working again.
Cheers
