GIP 3.00 breaks symbolic links

user-9

Hi guys,
just got a copy of the latest GIP, when I copied the perl script to /usr/bin/ and tried to run it I got an 'Acess denied' error. If I enter perl /usr/bin/get_iplayer it works fine. it seem to have lost its symbolic link. How do I restore it?

TIA
Steve

You don't get a symbolic link by copying a file. You likely just didn't install the script in /usr/bin with the correct permissions. There is no need to put get_iplayer in /usr/bin, though it probably won't do any harm. Use /usr/local/bin.

Of course! permissions! I use this command so rarely I always forget about it!
chmod +x /usr/local/bin/get_iplayer, now fine, thanks for the refresher!
