  Trouble getting BBC Radio programmes
Posted by: Jonaldinho - 01-08-2013, 06:59 PM - Forum: Windows General Help & Support - Replies (14)

Hi all.

I have been trying to begin using Get_iPlayer to continue downloading my favourite BBC radio dramas but I am not experienced with the command prompt method and am obviously doing something wrong.

I followed the tutorial directions here, using 'get_iplayer --type=radio' to get the programme index (which incidentally is incomplete as the index appears on my screen to start at the letter 'T' - see image 1) and managed to even locate one or two shows with PIDs to download but when I selected 'get_iplayer --get 13309 which is a football World Cup 2022 debate, I get a failure message (see image 2).

That entire 'command' line begins c:\Program Files\get_iplayer>get_iplayer --get 13309

I very much want to download The Martin Beck Killings, a series of five dramas which have been going out as part of the Saturday Drama broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in recent weeks, but having tried to locate the broadcasts using various searches ("Saturday Drama", "The Martin Beck Killings" and "Saturday Drama The Martin Beck Killings") I have not been able to find or 'get' any of these shows and I am going to run out of time to get even one.

If anyone can point me to the errors I am obviously making, I would be really grateful.

Thanks.

  Embedded Video Download
Posted by: apenny - 25-07-2013, 12:12 AM - Forum: Windows General Help & Support - Replies (9)

Long time user of Get_iplayer, but I'm having issues downloading embedded news clips.

I've done it in the past, but for the life of me, I can't remember how or has the beeb has changed something...

I'm on Win 7 and using version 2.83. Works fine for iplayer programmes, but won't play ball with embedded clips, I've tried a few with the following command (I use command line exclusively):

C:\Program Files (x86)\get_iplayer>get_iplayer http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-23434851 --tvmode=flashvhigh --nopurge
get_iplayer v2.83, Copyright (C) 2008-2010 Phil Lewis
This program comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY; for details use --warranty.
This is free software, and you are welcome to redistribute it under certain

INFO: Trying pid: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-23434851 using type: tv
INFO Trying to stream pid using type tv
INFO: pid not found in tv cache
WARNING: No programmes are available for this pid with version(s): default

Any help, would be gratefully received. Thank you.

Penny.

  Error

Hi,

I'm getting an error message when I try to download "Diaries of a Broken Mind". I've attached a screenshot. Could it be due to the age restriction form that has to be clicked when viewing it online? Is there a way around this?

Thanks.

Posted by: InAFlap - 22-07-2013, 01:06 PM - Forum: General Topics - Replies (12)

I remember their being a problem with the program

who were the greeks?
and the solution was to add either a / or \ before the ? in the search0 field on the PVR record

I cannot remember whether it is \? or /?

would this solution work with other reserved characters such as

:
/
\
*
"

  Installer integrity check has failed
Posted by: attempt - 19-07-2013, 08:01 PM - Forum: Windows General Help & Support - Replies (4)

As Ian, I'm unable to install get_iplayer_setup_latest: I get the message "installer integrity failed".
There was no installation problem with an older version "setup_4.0" found somewhere, but the program did not work.
I suppressed it via Revo uninstaller (it deletes the register keys) and tried with the "Linux latest version" through Cygwin. But got a "permission denied". And anyway I was not competent enough to succeed that way.
There may be some incompatibility Get_iplayer installer / Windows 7 ?

Unable to install: You do not have the appropriate permissions
Posted by: ian - 19-07-2013, 12:20 AM - Forum: Windows General Help & Support - Replies (5)

Hi, I am unable to install get-iplayer on a windows 7 system. I have tried running it as administrator, running file explorer as admin, changing priviliges for the exe file and even running the command prompt as admin and using dos to run the exe. All methods end with "you do not have the appropriate permissions etc".
When needing to run as admin at other times/programs I have not had problems.
Any help gratefully received. Thanks, Ian

  Deleting cookies
Posted by: KenJ - 17-07-2013, 05:07 PM - Forum: Windows General Help & Support - Replies (1)

How do I clear the get_iplayer cookies? (I'm running Windows XP.)

(I have a suspicion that cookies are used to mark a client as out-of-country, even if subsequently an in-country VPN is used. Don't have time to prove it, but a quick one-shot test seemed to show this.)

Thanks!!
