  programs with a ? in title
Posted by: InAFlap - 22-07-2013, 01:06 PM - Forum: General Topics - Replies (12)

I remember their being a problem with the program

who were the greeks?
and the solution was to add either a / or \ before the ? in the search0 field on the PVR record

I cannot remember whether it is \? or /?

would this solution work with other reserved characters such as

:
/
\
*

  Installer integrity check has failed
Posted by: attempt - 19-07-2013, 08:01 PM - Forum: Windows General Help & Support - Replies (4)

As Ian, I'm unable to install get_iplayer_setup_latest: I get the message "installer integrity failed".
There was no installation problem with an older version "setup_4.0" found somewhere, but the program did not work.
I suppressed it via Revo uninstaller (it deletes the register keys) and tried with the "Linux latest version" through Cygwin. But got a "permission denied". And anyway I was not competent enough to succeed that way.
There may be some incompatibility Get_iplayer installer / Windows 7 ?

  Unable to install: You do not have the appropriate permissions
Posted by: ian - 19-07-2013, 12:20 AM - Forum: Windows General Help & Support - Replies (5)

Hi, I am unable to install get-iplayer on a windows 7 system. I have tried running it as administrator, running file explorer as admin, changing priviliges for the exe file and even running the command prompt as admin and using dos to run the exe. All methods end with "you do not have the appropriate permissions etc".
When needing to run as admin at other times/programs I have not had problems.
Any help gratefully received. Thanks, Ian

  Deleting cookies
Posted by: KenJ - 17-07-2013, 05:07 PM - Forum: Windows General Help & Support - Replies (1)

How do I clear the get_iplayer cookies? (I'm running Windows XP.)

(I have a suspicion that cookies are used to mark a client as out-of-country, even if subsequently an in-country VPN is used. Don't have time to prove it, but a quick one-shot test seemed to show this.)

Thanks!!

  Exclude/include channels on refresh
Posted by: InAFlap - 17-07-2013, 11:17 AM - Forum: General Topics - Replies (4)

Is there a limit to the number of channels you can exclude or include

I want to speed up refresh times but none of teh channels I use in teh exclude option get excuded from the TV.cache ,radio.cache or podcast.cache

the string is pretty large and I wondered if that may be the reason why, or have I got the format wrong

here is my exclude and include stings.
I use either<pre>

Code:
get_iplayer --refresh-future --refresh-exclude ="Audio Described,BBC 1Xtra,BBC 5 live Sports Extra,BBC 6 Music,BBC Alba,BBC Asian Network,BBC Berkshire,BBC Bristol,BBC Cambridgeshire,BBC Cornwall,BBC Coventry & Warwickshire,BBC Cumbria,BBC Derby,BBC Devon,BBC Essex,BBC Gloucestershire,BBC Guernsey,BBC Hereford & Worcester,BBC Humberside,BBC Jersey,BBC Kent,BBC Lancashire,BBC Leeds,BBC Leicester,BBC Lincolnshire,BBC London,BBC Manchester,BBC Merseyside,BBC Newcastle,BBC News,BBC News 24,BBC Norfolk,BBC Northampton,BBC Nottingham,BBC One Cambridgeshire,BBC One East,BBC One East Midlands,BBC One London,BBC One North East & Cumbria,BBC One North West,BBC One Oxfordshire,BBC One Scotland,BBC One South,BBC One South East,BBC One South West,BBC One Wales,BBC One West,BBC One West Midlands,BBC One Yorks & Lincs,BBC One Yorkshire,BBC Oxford,BBC Parliament,BBC Radio,BBC Radio 1,BBC Radio 3,BBC Radio 4 FM,BBC Radio 4 LW,BBC Radio 5 live,BBC Radio 5 live Sports Extra,BBC Radio Bristol,BBC Radio Cornwall,BBC Radio Cymru,BBC Radio Foyle,BBC Radio Humberside,BBC Radio Jersey,BBC Radio Leicester,BBC Radio Manchester,BBC Radio Nan Gaidheal,BBC Radio Scotland,BBC Radio Sheffield,BBC Radio Solent,BBC Radio Suffolk,BBC Radio Ulster,BBC Radio Wales,BBC Sheffield,BBC Shropshire,BBC Solent,BBC Somerset,BBC Sport,BBC Stoke,BBC Suffolk,BBC Surrey,BBC Sussex,BBC Tees,BBC Three Counties,BBC Three Counties Radio,BBC Two Wales,BBC Wiltshire,BBC WM,BBC World Service,BBC York,CBBC,CBeebies,Signed," --refresh --type=all
</pre>

or<pre>
Code:
get_iplayer --refresh-future --refresh-include ="BBC Four,BBC One,BBC One Channel Islands,BBC One HD,BBC One Northern Ireland,BBC Radio 2,BBC Radio 4,BBC Radio 4 Extra,BBC Three,BBC Two,BBC Two Northern Ireland,BBC Two Scotland,BBC Web Only," --refresh --type=all
</pre>

I think I have got the format right but it just downloads everything.

I like the look of the site and hope it catches on, except with the big bad corporation

  Radio bitrates
Posted by: walthamstownick - 17-07-2013, 10:45 AM - Forum: General Topics - Replies (1)

Hi thanks for all this support: I'm another non-tech refugee from radio downloader. So only interested in audio. With the help of these excellent guides, I installed GetiPlayer which is working fine but after setting a conversion default for mp3, it seems to transcode only to 128kpbs although the data suggests that the BBC Proms are streamed at 325kbps. Here is the data:
Stream mapping:
Stream #0:0 -> #0:0 (aac -> libmp3lame)
size= 82830kB time=01:28:21.08 bitrate= 128.0kbits/s

the --radiomode= function seems only to affect the original download. Can the transcode rate be set or should I do my own transcoding with RealPlayer (shudder)?

There are a number of programmes that this is happening with......

  Where do I find the Get_iplayer?
Posted by: fotoflex - 15-07-2013, 09:26 PM - Forum: Linux & Unix General Help & Support - Replies (14)

I'm new to Linux, and very pleased with the instructions for installing the Get_iplayer.
Everything seemed to work okay, but how can I open it?
